Davey Tree Modernizes Identity and Access Management with Fischer Identity

The Challenge

Before partnering with Fischer Identity, Davey Tree faced significant challenges in managing identity and access across a large, decentralized workforce. The organization relied heavily on manual processes for provisioning and deprovisioning, which introduced delays, increased the risk of orphaned accounts, and left gaps in access control during employee transitions. There was no centralized access governance framework, making it difficult to enforce consistent security policies across systems. The lack of automation also placed a growing burden on IT resources, as user account management and password resets consumed valuable time. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) was managed separately, limiting visibility and control. As compliance requirements expanded, Davey Tree also struggled with conducting timely access reviews and generating audit-ready reports—hindering their ability to demonstrate security and regulatory accountability.

With increasing complexity across applications, systems, and users, Davey Tree needed a unified IAM solution that could scale, automate, and support the evolving needs of a modern, distributed organization.

How Fischer Helped

During the evaluation process, Davey Tree selected Fischer Identity as the ideal IAM partner, based on the platform’s ability to fully meet their functional and security requirements. Fischer implemented a role-based access control (RBAC) model integrated with SAP’s HR Management System, enabling real-time provisioning and deprovisioning based on role changes. The deployment included integrations with 15 connected systems, automated account claiming, and self-service capabilities for profile updates and password management. Dynamic requester/approver workflows were established to support access requests throughout the user lifecycle. Additionally, Fischer’s extensible platform enabled automated management of Duo accounts, enhancing the organization’s MFA strategy.

Fischer Identity’s Single Sign-On (SSO) solution expanded Access Management, enforcing One-Time Password (OTP) and Duo-based authentication for both internal users and third-party service providers.

To strengthen compliance efforts, Fischer’s Compliance module was leveraged to launch access certification campaigns and attestation reviews across critical systems. Custom reporting was configured to align with Davey Tree’s audit requirements.

All components of the solution are hosted on AWS through a dedicated partnership with Fischer Identity, ensuring high availability, scalability, and future-ready infrastructure.

The Outcome

By replacing manual processes with automated identity workflows, Davey Tree achieved faster and more secure onboarding and offboarding, reducing the risk of orphaned accounts and human error. The implementation of access certifications streamlined compliance and significantly reduced the internal burden of managing identity audits.
